Casey is the CEO and founder of Event Espresso. Out of her convertible, she started her business 15 years ago to share her love of coffee and value of the community that revolves around it; so much so, that she created a business that would share this community with people and places it hadn’t necessarily accessed before. She leads with integrity and compassion and seeks to bring these values to the forefront of Event Espresso and its clients.
"I developed a love for coffee during my freshman year of college, when my dorm room was right above the campus café. I walked through the café every day and could only afford a drip coffee, so that's where my coffee journey began.
After finishing my first year, I moved back to Carrboro, NC, and started working at Open Eye Café and Caffe Driade—sister shops known for their exceptional coffee. It was there that I developed a well-rounded palate, thanks to extensive training led by talented baristas and coffee roasters. I learned how complex or simple coffee can be, which is one of the things I love most about it. Coffee offers endless possibilities, allowing you to choose between simplicity or complexity. It’s a beverage that connects people from all walks of life, across cultures and tastes.
I didn’t know back then that this would be the stepping stone to a full-time career as the manager of a coffee catering company.
Understanding coffee has made my work in catering incredibly rewarding. We have the privilege of working with diverse clients at a wide range of events, and it’s important to appreciate the varying levels of complexity that coffee offers when engaging with our guests. Our goal is to create a welcoming, memorable experience at every event we serve. Whether you brew using a classic coffee pot, a French press, or have your own espresso machine, we want to hear about your coffee story! We want to know how you enjoy your coffee so we can craft an elevated experience for you and your guests."
My favorite drink is always changing but currently it is Chai!"
"It’s spring of 2019 and I am gallivanting around Norway with friends. I’m in an in-between stage of my life, I had just graduated from University about a year before this, and didn’t really know what to do with my time. I had just completed my yoga teacher training, hell bent on “healing” people.
I’m sitting in a small Norwegian coffee shop, admiring the people nonchalantly hustling behind the counter. “They look so cool” – I thought to myself, and the second thought was, “I could do that.” I didn’t quite know how far that second thought was going to take me, but as I sat there sampling some delicious coffees, the seed was planted.
It took my three years after that encounter in Norway to actually become one of those cool individuals behind a coffee bar, but those feelings and sensations attached to that moment in my life live on in why I love coffee. Coffee is not only a drink people fuel their mornings with, but coffee is an experience, a ritual, a moment to pause our schedules and connect with one another. Over the years of being a barista I’ve gotten to make people smile, laugh, and invite a little playfulness in their busy days.
I’ve come to realize there is no “healing others” – but we can provide spaces for people to show up as they are and give them a sense of community, of care, a moment of our time, and mend together. I believe coffee is a medium in which I get to do that. Norway ignited something deep within me that inspired me to pursue a feeling, and now I get to create that connection through coffee with others."
"Americano is my favorite drink!"
" I’m a modern-day vaudevillian, professional whimsy
technician, and jukebox wizard who lives to create unforgettable moments. When
I’m in the room, D’Mazing things happen—whether It’s dazzling audiences on
stage or crafting the perfect coffee experience.
Why do I love being a nomadic coffee alchemist? Because
I’m an experienced curator and spectacle specialist who finds magic in every
cup. Coffee isn’t just a beverage to me; it’s a ritual, a moment of connection,
and a chance to spark joy. With me behind the espresso bar, every pour becomes
a performance, and every guest leaves with a smile (and maybe a little
confetti)."

"I personally thrive on the connections coffee creates—each cup is an opportunity to brighten someone’s day. To me, coffee is more than a drink; it’s a moment of pause and a bridge between before and after. Whether crafting the perfect pour or managing my dynamic team, my passion for coffee infuses every step of my journey. "
"My favorite coffee beverage to drink is an oat milk latte, and my favorite drink to make is the cup of your dreams."
"Coffee has had a special place in my heart since I was sharing an old school pot of stove top percolator coffee with my mom every morning in high school.
I started working in coffee because I adore coffee shops, to me they are the pinnacle of dining. Between the cozy vibes, artistic baristas and delicious coffee and pastries filling the air, I feel at home.
I started out as a cook and pastry chef in fine dining, but the allure of coffee brought me into this space. I wanted to work with amazing people serving a bit of love that anyone could access to quickly brighten their day.
Working with event espresso really combines all my skills and brings excitement back to making coffee. I love meeting new people and seeing the whole of Chicago through coffee as I serve people from every corner of the city, and often the country."
"Join me for a cortado at my next event! "

"I love to cater coffee because it lends me the opportunity to fully embody one of my love languages- serving others through nourishment. In our fast paced society, it is sometimes easy to forget to slow down, savoring the present moment. Meeting with complete strangers from all walks of life and sharing small talk is an uplifting reminder for me that we are all somehow connected in this great mystery we call life. It’s an honor for me to prepare a well deserved treat and witness the joy it brings to so many beautiful faces."
"My favorite drink is an oat milk salted caramel mocha."
"I work full time for myself running an earth friendly cleaning business, serving local families, realtors AND businesses in St Louis City! I use non-toxic, biodegradable cleaners and offer organizing services as well.
I’m also a Certified Pelvic Steam Practitioner that offers holistic health services for womb/reproductive health. My website is currently down and undergoing a revamp, but you can follow my IG @wombrevival"
"I love it so much because I need more than just a little
boost in the morning to get me going. My
ADHD is reigned in by the subtle stimulation an espresso provides, my day
starts off with a smooth bold flavored ritual, me and my cup! I think some days I might be a little too
dependent on the energizing feels I get from the first and second cup, but I
have come to see it as a happy habit I will have for life, and at least it's healthy!"
" I can't pick a favorite
coffee inspired beverage because I enjoy everything those magical beans go
into... that being said, no decaf for me."
"My interest in coffee actually started out as watching baristas online crafting drinks. I've always been the type to love creating culinary experiences with cooking and baking, so I decided, why not add coffee to my list? I haven't looked back since!!
I think coffee is so versatile and entertaining to work with. Almost like an art medium; I get to make really fun syrups (favorites so far being sugar cookie and maple butter) and use espresso as my base to make something really good. I love the entire process too- working on espresso machines is something I genuinely enjoy. It makes me so happy to create a drink that will have everyone light up and get through their day.
Working with Event Espresso has been the best way I'm able to express my passion for everything coffee. I hope my excitement and love shines through at every event I host!"
"My favorite drink to make is a salted caramel mocha!"
"There is just something about coffee in the morning. I look forward to it as I fall asleep. I would say I have a particular love for espresso. a short cup of something strong and aromatic. really makes me smile just thinking about it. The morning sun, a cup of coffee, and some good music. and I love to share that experience with others. It feels good to provide people with a memorable cup."
"My favorite drink is a simple dark roasted espresso. earthy and rich. Let me make one for you!"

"10 years ago, my life got a lot cooler when I landed my
very first job, a barista gig at the new cafe in my sleepy hometown, helmed by
Event Espressos’ own Casey Marburger.
Coffee has shaped my life
in so many ways. It has brought me some of my most cherished friendships, my
chosen family, an ever growing community of endlessly talented and interesting
people & mentors that have continued to inspire me daily.
It has allowed me to live
in a world that keeps both the global and local conversations at the forefront.
Coffee has served as a vessel, or a conduit, that carries the way I see
everything else in the world as connected. My favorite part about
catering coffee is meeting all kinds of people from all over the world. It has
allowed me to make so many beautiful connections with strangers. I have also recently
started an espresso equipment servicing company and am proud to maintain and
repair equipment for EE."
"My go-to drink is espresso
on ice, and I like a matcha lemonade in the summer :)"
"When I first entered the world of coffee, it was none
other than a survival job at an art museum to help get me through college, but
as soon as I got my hands on my first portafilter and steam wand, I fell in
love with the art of crafting a magical coffee experience. Up until this point,
coffee had always been quite mystical to me. I always loved the smell and the
cozy experience of a warm mug in the morning, but when I entered the realm of
craft espresso drinks, I became obsessed with nailing the perfect drink, from
composition, to taste, to the individual preference of each customer. From
there, I worked with multiple shops, picking up more knowledge and skill from
each coffee expert I worked alongside. The journey of learning coffee is
endlessly giving, and I continue to look forward to what I will learn next.
Now, as a catering barista, I indulge the privilege of
bringing the coffee shop experience to a wide variety of individuals; from the
corporate coffee lover who needs a little boost to get through the day, to the
farmer's market peruser who's never seen a cappuccino before, and is ready to
try something new. Whoever you are, I'm excited to provide a warm, welcoming,
and delicious experience for your community to enjoy and connect over."
" I first began working with coffee in 2016
at a shop local to Concord, NC, where I fell in love with serving coffee and
realized how much I enjoy being in a café environment. During those years, I
developed a deep appreciation for the culture surrounding coffee, which only
grew as I began traveling. As I traveled, I became fascinated by how much the
experience of enjoying coffee varies across different regions—from the more
community-centered tradition of Bosnian coffee to the fast-paced espresso
culture of Italy. While the rituals differ, coffee remains universally
connecting in so many ways.
In 2023, I received formal training at a
specialty café in Chapel Hill, NC, where I began to deepen my understanding of
the science behind coffee production. Through my training and time at the café,
I was exposed to how coffee is grown and the ways it can be manipulated through
its processing to produce a wide variety of flavors. With this, I delved into
the intricacies of pulling a shot of espresso, learning techniques to highlight
specific notes, change its texture, and more. My time at the café cemented my
love for coffee, as it unified my appreciation for its culture with a
dedication to serving exceptional espresso!"
"Also there,
my favorite drink quickly became a cortado!"
“As a kid, I dreamed of being a barista. Growing up in Southern Alaska, there is a huge coffee culture and my parents would take me to local coffee shops. I always felt a sense of community within that space.
In my career, I have aspired to capture that same small town warmth that made me feel at home in coffee shops in the first place. I love small talk, meeting new people, and sharing my passion for coffee.
To some, coffee may be just a beverage, but for me it is a means of fostering new connections.”
"My favorite drink is an oatmilk cappuccino. Small enough to taste the espresso without it being too small to not have enough time to enjoy a cafe’s atmosphere."
"Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, my journey into
the world of coffee took an unexpected turn from the music stages I once played
on. While touring the United States and Europe as a drummer in various bands, I
discovered a passion for specialty coffee that transformed my life. Each day in
a new city, I’d explore local streets between load-in and soundchecks, hunting
for espresso bars that served more than just caffeine—places that offered a
memorable coffee experience.
The turning point came one day when I was handed an
espresso shot brewed from natural Ethiopian Harrar coffee. It had remarkable
notes of blueberry and vanilla—flavors I never imagined coffee could naturally
possess. That moment sparked a fascination that led me deep into the world of
specialty coffee. I dedicated countless hours to research and became relentless
in seeking out the best coffee shops in every city I visited.
Eventually, I found myself drawn to the craft of roasting
itself. Curious about the artistry behind it, I invested in my first small
roaster—the Arc 800—and began experimenting. That was the beginning of a
journey that I haven’t looked back from. Today, I am honored to share my
passion by roasting coffee in a way that highlights its nuanced flavors while
emphasizing sweetness in the cup. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to
bring these exceptional coffees to you.
Fast
forward 6 years now and I have had the pleasure of competing alongside some of
the best roasters in the country in the U.S. Coffee Championships placing 11th
overall in 2023 and 3rd place overall in 2024. This amazing roaster community
has inspired me to grow on so many levels and I wouldn’t be where I’m at today
without their immense support and guidance.
As coffee
roasters, we bear the significant responsibility of showcasing the exquisite
coffees that farmers have painstakingly grown and produced. Each coffee bean
carries the unique story of the land, climate, and meticulous care provided by
the farmers. Roasters must honor this dedication by roasting each coffee in a
manner that highlights its distinct characteristics and best representation.
This requires a deep understanding of the bean’s origin, processing method, and
inherent flavors. At the same time, roasters should impart their unique touch,
creating a harmonious balance between the coffee's natural qualities and their
personal artistry. In doing so, they pay tribute to the farmers' hard work
while offering consumers an exceptional coffee experience.
Thanks so
much for taking the time to stop by and learn about the origins of Alinea
Coffee Roasters and my journey into sourcing and roasting some of the best
coffees from around the world."

"I
love coffee because it's such a comforting and reliable way to start my day. I
got started in the barista world through my wife and friends who have been
baristas for a long time. It's very rewarding to give people a consistent kick
to their day. Especially at a catering event, where most people are pleasantly
surprised to receive a full service coffee experience, as opposed to just a hot
pot with brewed coffee."
"My
favorite drink is a straight up mocha. Chocolate + coffee is the best!"

"What I love the most about catering coffee is that it takes the experience of ordering and drinking speciality coffee - something wonderfully explorative, enriching, eye opening - and strips it of all the usual contextual baggage that can make it somewhat inaccessible & stuffy. So getting to step outside of a brick & mortar, to talk to the people you’re making coffee for and craft it at this highest possible quality for them wherever they are in that moment is beautiful and memorable for everyone."
"Favorite drink: cortado! (of course)"
"I started alternative pop band Kelly Duplex in 2018 in New Orleans and our 2nd album on Strange Daisy Records is about to come out on Valentine’s Day 2025. All of our vinyl & merch can be found at Kellyduplex.bandcamp.com & our instagram is @kelly.duplex"
"Joining the team and getting to take part in the world of coffee catering has allowed me to experience the uniqueness and creativity that Event Espresso offers. As a barista, I love coffee catering because no day is ever the same; there will always be different clients, different venues, and different drinks. I love most of all getting to connect with our customers-- whether that be on the morning of their wedding day, a regular afternoon at the office, or a yearly conference that draws attention from all over the country.
Coffee shops are often seen as morning checkpoints or casual meeting places. It makes me happy to bring that same energy to different locations every day. Getting to ask total strangers what brought them to this moment; giving them kindness and individual attention so for a few minutes of their busy day they feel seen, heard, and cared about. Making coffees and teas is of course always fun (and has truly been an amazing craft to learn), but I find true joy in the human connections that coffee catering provides."
"Favorite drink: Chai Latte"
"Hello my name is Yuqi! I love coffee for the community that it inspires and the collective space that it holds. Crafting with my hands is the best and most authentic way for me to connect with others, which is why I love being a barista. I specifically enjoy catering coffee because of the agency it brings while being able to meet various types of people in their own space which provides a more intimate view and connections that differs from a café experience where people come to your space."
"My go to coffee drink is a flat white."

"I love coffee for many
reasons. Coffee brings folks together and has so many varieties and ways of
being made, that there is something for everyone. There are many ways to be
creative in the coffee world and it's fun to play and discover new ways to use it.
Coffee also helps me have the perfect start to my day.
My first job out of
high school was working as a barista. I fell in love with making lattes and
steaming perfect milk. It's been my main job for over half my life and I
continue to love it.
I love catering coffee
because it feels like such a small thing but it can make some day. Bringing joy
to folks with a perfect cup and a moment of kindness. "
"My favorite drink is an oat
latte with a small amount of honey."
I have worked as a barista in some shape or form throughout all stages of my working career. Over the years my love for the craft of coffee has grown so much, and even more while working with Event Espresso. The taste, the experience, and the joy it brings is what gets me out of bed each morning. I hope to see you at our next event!"
" My love of coffee
started before it was even up to me. By 9 years old I was ordering it light and
sweet from my favorite NY bagel shops. Even when I arrive at a family member's
house at 8pm, coffee gets put on and the conversations start rolling. Coffee is
a creator of connection. I love how it brings people together. It wasn't until
my mid twenties that I discovered the specialty coffee world, and that is when
it became more than just a facilitator of good times and conversation.
Becoming a barista is
where my love of events and people brought me. I love taking care of people and
creating experiences. I also love to create.
I get to make something beautiful for someone while brightening their
day at the same time?! Amazing.
Fun fact about me is
that I have served well over 10,000 cups of coffee all over the country without
ever working in a coffee shop. Every job is a unique experience from convention
centers, to the office, to a wedding, to someone's home. It's always something
different. The variables change, the impact doesn't. Making someone smile is
still my favorite part."
