Casey graduated from Art School in 2007, but a month before graduation, someone in her class stole her laptop. Her entire portfolio, years of work, was gone. Without that, she couldn’t apply to the jobs she had planned on. So instead, she took a different route and got a job at a coffee shop, where she was able to take a deep breath and reset.
This reset allowed her to not rush towards a 9-to-5, and instead reflect on the direction of her life. Casey will tell you that her laptop being stolen guided her life in a way that she had not initially considered. Though she didn’t drink coffee at the time, Casey quickly discovered that coffee was about people. And this work was about more than a paycheck. Through four dedicated years in a cafe she found connection to all kinds of people, an understanding for hospitality and service, as well as a safe space to dream differently. Her laptop being stolen was a huge blessing because it gave her access to something more meaningful: service and community.
Those two pillars, service and community, would become the foundation of Event Espresso.
After years in the coffee world she was invited to run a roaster’s coffee cart at a holiday event. Experiencing a mobile cafe in action got her gears turning. She thought, “I could do this.” With the roasters blessing she began workshopping the idea.
A few weeks later the café got a call about doing espresso drinks at a wedding. Casey said, “we couldn’t do that with our 200-pound machine here, but I could figure something out.” And with that Event Espresso was born.
Those first couple of years were all hustle: building her first set ups with her uncle, customizing a bar to fit into her convertible, forgetting a machine at an event (more on that later) and improvising on the spot. She’s built her business the same way she pours coffee, one cup at a time, with care and intention. It was the trials and tribulations, leaning on friends, and remembering her favorite regulars – that led her to the opportunities that shaped her company.
Early in Event Espresso’s history, Casey was given the chance to work a double bar for C3. This would be the first time she worked an event to C3’s scope. It was her big break with EE. After doing such a fantastic job catering their double bar – C3 asked her to travel the country for events and be their sole coffee cart. This was proof that her blend of quality and hospitality could scale.
That first level up moment is why, at the heart of our company, there’s a deep dedication to fantastic service. Because you never know what the moment will bring.
Now, 15 years later, Event Espresso caters events big and small across the country. But why we do what we do hasn’t changed, we’re all about the people. We aren’t just serving coffees, we are curating memorable experiences.
Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate event, or the US Open, we bring the same energy Casey felt in her first coffee shop: warmth, connection, and a belief that even the smallest details can make the biggest impact.
We aren’t just bringing the coffee shop to you, we are cultivating memorable experiences wherever we are.
